The film scores in showing the lifestyle of tribal town Araku, the simplicity of the characters, the innocence of the people there. Director Venkatesh Maha seems to have followed the same original in its essence and screenplay.

On the whole, Uma Maheshwara Ugra Roopasya is an earthy village drama that has some amazing performances. Satyadev single-handedly carries the film with his brilliant act and the first hour is pretty engaging. But a predictable second half and rushed up climax, makes things a bit dull. If you are one who does not mind the slow pace, this film ends as a passable watch during this lockdown period.

Overall, Uma Maheshwar Rao is a faithful remake that is a gripping and engaging watch, for the most part. It leaves us with a satisfying feeling, in the end, making it an easy one-time watch.

Is this film as good as C/o Kancharapalem is a question that might be on many minds, especially seeing as how both are slice-of-life dramas. Maha ensures to make this film his own, even if the source material isn’t his and the effort shows, especially when characters discuss about bamboo chicken losing its authenticity and collect mustard flowers that Araku is dotted with in a particular season.

The director must be appreciated for making the necessary changes to the film, to make the story suit the nativity of Telugu audiences. The film has Araku as a backdrop. The dialogues in the story are very good and provoke thought. The realistic way of making the movie is good.
