Fahadh Faasil, as always, derives strength and thrives on his emphasis on the exactitude of expression. Neither does Roshan Mathew miss a beat as he goes from being a smitten young man to becoming a victim of circumstances partly of his own making but wholly beyond his control. Darshana Rajendran, playing a role of pivotal significance, delivers a moving portrayal of a girl of many shades.

Producers Fahad Faasil and Nazriya Nazim and director Mahesh Narayanan pick up a story with disturbingly familiar outlines and impart it with fresh urgency and impact, making each frame of the 1 hour 38 minutes run time count.

C U Soon is a great example of making innovative content, utilising technology and fine storytelling, at a time when budgetary constraints and physical restrictions are forcing filmmakers to think out-of-the-box. For Mollywood’s first film that was made especially for an OTT release and experience, the film sets the bar high.

C U Soon is not to be watched lazily. There are multiple windows open on screen throughout and the activity is constant. For instance, a character might be on a video call with one person while typing messages to another and folders lie scattered in the background – this means the viewer’s senses must be on red alert every moment.

With a run time of around 95 minutes, ‘C U Soon’ is tightly packed and neatly presented without logical flaws. The fact that the entire movie was shot during the lockdown is astonishing and is only going to pave the way for more such creative artists coming forward and making brilliant on-paper scripts, a reality.
